There you go! Your Drawstring Origami Bag is
finished. (Picture 13, 14) Now repeat steps 1 through
8 to create another gorgeous little bag.

Knot the laces together at a length you like. With the
second lace, start on the other side of the bag and
thread through both sides of the purse, this time
knotting the laces on the other side of your bag.
(Picture 12).

8. Put a safety pin through one of the shoelaces, and
thread it through the tunnel on both sides of the bag.
Bring it out the same side it started on. (Picture 11)

7. Now turn your bag right side out. Fold down the two
top triangles, to make the top of the bag line up with
the top of the side flaps. About 1/2 inch from the top
of the bag, stitch a continuous line round the entire
bag. This will create the tunnel for the
drawstrings.(Picture 10)

6. With the bag still inside out, sew across both
bottom corners to allow the bag to stand up on it's
own.(Picture 9 - only one side shown, sew both
corners.)

5. The two flaps on the bottom of the purse overlap
each other. Turn the bag inside out and carefully
stitch a rectangle or square to secure the 2 flaps
onto the bottom of the bag.(Picture 8)

Repeat for the other
side.(Picture 7).

4. Now you will take one of the corners of your
triangle and flip it inside out to wrap around the
body of the purse.(Picture 6).

Stitch on this line, making sure to backstitch at the
top of both sides.

Draw a line from the fold
line down to the bottom of the purse on each side of
the fold.(Picture 4 - Showing the line on the left
side of fold. Picture 5 - Line on right side of fold.)

3. Fold down the top flap of the triangle about 2/3 of
the way down.(Picture 3)

1. Layer your fabrics right side up and square to
the size you have chosen. Sew around the outside with
right sides facing; leaving an opening, about 2 inches
long. Turn fabric right side out, through the opening,
and turn out the corners with a chopstick or a point
tuner . Press carefully.

2. I chose to do a fancy stitch around the outside
border of my square in a thread that matches my
fabric. Top stitching or a simple zig zag is also
perfectly acceptable. Decide which fabric you want to
see MOST on the outside. Fold square in to a triangle,
with chosen fabric INSIDE. (Picture 1 - I have chosen
the black fabric for the inside of my bag. Picture 2 -
I have folded the triangle with my chosen fabric
inside.)

You will need 2 squares of fabric that have some
contrast and a pair of round shoelaces to match your
fabric. Perfect for 2 fat quarters, or eigths for a
smaller sized bag. Use any size of square between 8-
20 inches. Pictured here are purses made from 9-10
inch squares
